Scholarships applications are typically accepted between August 1st thru August 31st; applications received outside of that window will not be reviewed. Residential scholarships are awarded by the Scholarship Committee, which carefully reviews current residents based on eligibility, need, and alignment with program values.
OSFA Short‑Term Loans
OSFA offers short‑term loans to help cover temporary expenses like books, supplies, living costs, medical needs, or unexpected emergencies, including delays in financial aid. Undergraduates can borrow up to $600 and graduate/professional students up to $1,000, with no interest if repaid by the due date.

Dianne Bartz Berthold Scholarship
Requirements: Provides support for student Veterans being served by the Chez Veterans Center. Preference given to student’s residing at the Chez Veterans Center. If no such student exists, the scholarship may be given to student Veterans living outside of the Chez Veterans Center.
Amount: $1000

Requirements: Provides scholarship for Veterans with ties to Southern California (e.g. having previously lived in Southern California, were stationed in San Diego, etc.). First preference shall be given to Veterans who have a service-connected disability or injury.

Ronald J. Miech Scholarship for Veterans in Mathematics
Requirements: Provides scholarships to military-connected students Majoring in Mathematics. While preference is Veteran students majoring in Mathematics, if no such student exists, secondary preference shall be to military-connected students in a closely related field, such as but not limited to actuarial science, mathematics and computer science, or teaching mathematics.
Amount: $2,000

Ronald H. Filler Center Residential Scholarship
Requirements: Provides residential support for students served by the Chez Veterans Center (i.e. current resident). The scholarship may be used, but is not limited to supporting resident fees, tuition, course fees, books, etc.

Requirements: Provides scholarship to support a Veteran for a year of full-time residency at the Chez Veterans Center, or 2 Veterans living outside of the facility. This scholarship also provides an opportunity for Boeing to interact with other Veteran-students associated with the Center.
Amount: $2,500.

Need-Based Scholarships
Ronald D. Paulsgrove Student Support Fund
Requirements: This fund provides financial support for essential expenses other than tuition and fees. Eligible applicants include Veterans, active‑duty service members, and military‑connected students enrolled at the University of Illinois who are served by the Chez Veterans Center. Preference is given to student Veterans who have claimed dependents on their FAFSA.
The fund offers one‑time financial assistance per academic year for enrolled, degree‑seeking students facing an immediate, essential need due to a temporary hardship or emergency—such as an accident, illness, natural disaster, recent job loss, or other unforeseen circumstance. Support may also be considered for internship‑related or professional development expenses. Applicants may be asked to participate in an interview as part of the review process.
Amount: Varies; typically up to $1,000.
Renewable: One-time award per academic year.
Number: Limited to funds available.
