Jackie Pranada was born in the Philippines, and her and her family moved to Champaign, Illinois when she was just six years old. Now Jackie is currently studying Sustainable Design here at UIUC. She is passionate about finding creative solutions to environmental challenges while balancing her commitment to serve her country.

From a young age, Jackie knew she wanted to pursue a career that combined service and education. While still in middle school, she set her sights on the military, but also wanted to earn a college degree in a field that would fuel her passion. That’s where Air Force ROTC came in, offering the unique opportunity to pursue higher education while simultaneously preparing to serve as an officer.
Though Jackie hasn’t yet entered active duty, her four years as an ROTC cadet have been life-changing. She’s gained invaluable skills that extend far beyond the classroom—learning how to manage responsibilities, delegate tasks efficiently in group settings, resolve conflicts, and sharpen her leadership abilities. These lessons have set her apart from her peers and allowed her to approach college life in a more disciplined and proactive way.
In addition to ROTC, Jackie is also a member of the women’s hockey team on campus, showcasing her commitment to teamwork, resilience, and physical well-being. It’s clear that she thrives in environments that challenge her, and her well-roundness is a testament to her drive to balance academics, leadership, and sports.
Looking to the future, Jackie has secured a position as a 63A Acquisitions Officer in Arlington, VA, where she will take on the responsibilities of managing and acquiring resources for the Air Force. But her journey doesn’t stop there—she plans to continue her education by pursuing a master’s degree, furthering her expertise in both her field of study and her military service.
