Staff Spotlight: Jason Sakowski

Meet Jason Sakowski, the Assistant Director for Veteran Student Support Services at the Chez Veterans Center.

Dedicated Campus Support

Jason handles a broad range of responsibilities to ensure students thrive academically and personally. His daily work involves educating students on their veteran benefits, leading the Chez Ambassadors program, and providing dedicated case management and advocacy. Beyond managing the Veteran Lounge and reviewing scholarship and residential applications, Jason teaches a military-connected student course and actively serves on multiple campus committees.

Passion for Student Success

For Jason, working with students is deeply meaningful because it allows him to serve a community with which he shares a strong connection. He finds fulfillment in helping students tackle challenges, discover effective solutions, and leave with brighter days. Above all, he loves listening to students’ journeys—learning what brought them to the University and what goals they strive to achieve.

Advice for the Semester

As students begin a new academic term, Jason offers encouraging guidance: create a clear plan and tackle responsibilities one step at a time. Further, rely on your campus network, knowing that you never have to navigate obstacles alone.
