We are delighted to share a recap of the successful 2024 End of the Year Celebration that took place on May 10th at the Chez Veterans Center. This event was a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and commemorate the triumphs and achievements of our esteemed veterans and military-connected students.
Cloie Widell, graduated this Spring with her Bachelor Degree, majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois. During her last semester on campus, she led the planning and organization of the End of the Year Celebration. The celebration was filled with camaraderie, gratitude, and a deep sense of community spirit. Cloie’s dedication and leadership were instrumental in organizing a meaningful and memorable event for everyone in attendance.
During the celebration, we honored scholarship recipients, applauded the graduating class, and listened to the inspiring testimonies of those who have served. The atmosphere was one of warmth and appreciation as we came together to recognize the resilience and perseverance of our military-connected individuals. The evening was also an opportunity to reflect on our journey as a community and the support provided by the Chez Veterans Center.
A highlight of the event was Cloie Widell’s meeting her fundraising goal, as she raised over $2500 for emergency funds for military-connected students. This generous contribution reflects the spirit of compassion and support that defines our community at the Chez Veterans Center. During the event, she took the lead in adding a fun and lighthearted touch. She also organized a special segment where residents had the opportunity to award staff members with creative accolades. Some of the awards included “Most Likely To Become A Yoga Instructor” and “Most Likely To Be On Their Fourth Cup of Coffee Before 10 am.” This playful activity brought laughter and smiles to the gathering, showcasing the camaraderie and positive spirit within our community. It was a delightful way to recognize the unique qualities and personalities of the staff members who contribute so much to the Chez Veterans Center.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the success of this celebration. Your presence and participation contributed to the warmth and vibrancy of our event, and we are grateful for your continued support.
A special thank you to Darrell Hoemann for donating his time and taking great pictures!
