
We are thrilled to share the recent achievements of Dr. Michael Lotspeich-Yadao, the Assistant Director of Research at the Chez Veterans Center, and his mentee Yasmen Pugh, a remarkable undergraduate student with a passion for supporting the health and well-being of Veterans.
Dr. Michael Lotspeich-Yadao was honored with the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award from the TRiO McNair Program at Illinois. This recognition highlights his dedication to guiding and supporting students in their academic and research pursuits. His commitment to mentorship has been instrumental in shaping the academic journey of many students, including Yasmen Pugh.
Yasmen Pugh, a military dependent and an undergraduate majoring in Psychology and Sociology, has shown exceptional dedication and talent in her work related to Veteran health. Under Michael’s mentorship, Yasmen achieved significant milestones in her research endeavors. She has successfully submitted one manuscript as the first author to a prestigious Q1 journal and contributed as the third author to another manuscript in a similar high-ranking journal. This achievement is a testament to Yasmen’s hard work, determination, and scholarly capabilities.
