Aditya Madduluri, Class of 2024, found more than just a place to live at the Chez Veterans Center—he found a community that helped shape his journey from military service to academic and professional success. Transitioning from active duty in 2020 during the challenges of a global pandemic, Aditya faced the daunting task of returning to school after five years away. Navigating rigorous coursework in physics, chemistry, calculus, and computer science, he leaned on the support of his fellow military-connected students at Chez, who understood the unique challenges of transitioning to civilian life.

Beyond academics, the Chez Veterans Center provided Aditya with invaluable mentorship and resources. Dustin Lange helped him refine his resume and prepare for interviews, leading to three successful internships. Jason Sakowski’s expertise with GI Bill and National Guard benefits ensured Aditya could focus on his education without financial stress, even when he was activated to support the COVID-19 vaccination program. Regular check-ins with Ingrid Wheeler reinforced that he had a strong support system, while Garrett made sure he took full advantage of the programs available to him.
Now a commissioned officer in the Virginia Army National Guard, Aditya credits the Chez Veterans Center for playing a crucial role in his transition and success. “The Chez Veterans Center remains an indispensable chapter in my journey, ingrained by a four-letter word that encapsulates its essence: Care.”
